ParityCube launches OpenTrust, a free fraud-number registry for Indian merchants

ParityCube, the company behind Zingoy, DesiDime and Cuelinks, today launched OpenTrust (opentrust.in), a free, community-run registry where Indian merchants can share experiences with mobile numbers linked to chargebacks, fake orders, refused cash-on-delivery orders and OTP scams, and check new customers before fulfilling an order.

In India, the mobile number has become the identifier for almost every online merchant, with customers signing up and logging in using just their number. For a scammer, that makes starting over easy: a new mobile number is enough to run the same scam across thousands of digital platforms. The scams range from promo abuse to cash-on-delivery refusals and, in worse cases, purchases made with someone else’s credit card.

“Zingoy receives hundreds of complaints every year, as fraud is highest for digital gift cards and digital money. We have burned our hands multiple times trying to fight the scammers and the system,” said Mehul Jobanputra, CEO, ParityCube.

“There needs to be an easy way for merchants to share information about bad actors programmatically, and that is how OpenTrust was born,” said Jimish Jobanputra, CTO, ParityCube.

How it works

Merchants submit only the phone number and a reason code. No customer names, addresses or order data are ever shared. Numbers are matched using a keyed hash and stored encrypted, lookups reveal only the last four digits, and reporting merchants remain anonymous behind a “verified merchant” badge. A grievance process lets anyone correct an entry made in error.

Every approved merchant gets 100,000 free checks via API, with no card or sales call required. Developer documentation and client libraries are available from day one.

OpenTrust is not a commercial product. ParityCube built it because fraud drains honest businesses and, through them, India’s digital economy. When merchants warn each other, the same bad actor has a harder time moving on to the next store. Merchants can sign up at opentrust.in.
